State Sen. Jil Tracy (R-Quincy) has been appointed Republican Spokesperson for the Senate State Government Committee, which considers legislation related to state government processes, such as procurement standards, state agency rulemaking and emergency management.
“It’s an honor to be named Republican Spokesperson for the State Government Committee,” said Tracy. “It’s a valuable opportunity to help guide the legislation and policy decisions that affect the operations of our state agencies and the daily lives of our constituents.”
The Senate has 26 committees, which are tasked with analyzing legislation and making recommendations to the full legislative body. Once legislation has been introduced, it is assigned to the appropriate committee based on subject matter. Only those bills approved by a committee will be considered by the entire Senate.
The Quincy Senator will also serve as a member of the Senate Agriculture, Judiciary, Criminal Law, Labor, and Telecommunications and Information Technology committees.
“I look forward to working with each of my committees,” said Tracy. “All six represent important interests for the state, legal system and our constituents. Coming from a district that has growing agricultural and manufacturing sectors, issues relating to agriculture and labor are high-priority. I’m eager to get to work on all these issues in Springfield in the coming weeks.”
Additionally, Tracy has opened her Senate district office, located at 3701 East Lake Centre Drive in Quincy, Illinois. To contact her, please call (217) 223-0833 or visit senatorjiltracy.com.
