State Senator Jil Tracy has been named one of the most effective legislators in Illinois by the Center for Effective Lawmaking.
“I am honored to be recognized as one of the most effective legislators in the Illinois Senate,” said Senator Tracy. “As legislators, we are elected to represent the best interests of the people we serve, and it’s humbling to know that among several very qualified leaders, I was chosen for this honor.”
The Center for Effective Lawmaking, a nonpartisan research group made up of Vanderbilt University and the University of Virginia, recently released their report ranking the effectiveness of legislators. According to Craig Volden, a public policy professor at the University of Virginia and co-author of the study, there are many reasons a lawmaker might be considered effective – from being able to work well with the other side to having strong knowledge in certain policy areas.
“A lot of the bills I file originate from constituents’ ideas to close loopholes in legislation or improve the lives of the people we represent,” said Senator Tracy. “By traveling the district, attending meetings, and working through our outreach team, we are most effective when we can help the people we serve. I think that’s why we are successful in the work we do.”
The report lists the top five legislators in the Illinois Senate Republican Caucus as Leader John Curran, Senator Jil Tracy, Senator Chapin Rose, Senator Sue Rezin, and former Senator Tom Bennett.
