Senator Jil Tracy (R-Quincy) is pleased to announce Beardstown Houston Memorial Public Library will receive grant funding to further support their educational programming for students.
The library will receive $15,166 through the Project Next Generation grant program through the Illinois Secretary of State’s office for their efforts to establish educational, “after-school” programs that not only provide access to computers, software, and various technology, but also hire mentors to help students develop self-confidence and pride in their newly acquired skills.
In total, $526,790 in 2019 Project Next Generation grants will be awarded to 31 public libraries statewide. The program encourages personal growth and the educational development of at risk students with the goal of bridging the digital divide by making recent technologies accessible to students who have limited access to computers.
