State Senator Jil Tracy (R-Quincy) issued the statement below following the passage of the so-called “Energy Omnibus Bill”:

“Democratic policies have created a mess for Illinois families, and this latest energy bill only digs the hole deeper. Just when we thought things couldn’t get more chaotic after the Climate and Equitable Jobs Act (CEJA), this proposal removes crucial protections, hands unelected bureaucrats unchecked power to raise utility rates, and risks closing reliable local power plants while subsidizing unreliable energy. The result? Families face skyrocketing bills while billions flow to special interest groups and not to the people who actually pay the bills. Illinoisans deserve affordable, reliable energy, not this mess.”
