Tracy responds to transition of Senate Republican Leadership

Following Senate Minority Leader Christine Radogno’s announcement to resign, Senate Republicans gathered at the Capitol on the morning of June 30 to unanimously elect State Sen. Bill Brady (R-Bloomington) as the new Illinois Senate Republican Leader for the remainder of the 100th General Assembly. State Sen. Jil Tracy (R-Quincy) provided the following statement on the transition of leadership.

“Leader Radogno has been the epitome of leadership since her start in the General Assembly 20 years ago. While I’m new to the State Senate, she has been a dedicated advocate for me in my political career, a great friend, and a role model for all women. That being said, I know the Senate Republicans will be in great hands with our new Senate Leader Bill Brady. We have not for a moment lost sight of our goal to deliver a truly balanced state budget with reforms to the people of Illinois for the new fiscal year.”

The official vote will come by a vote of the full Senate as soon as possible. The Senate Republican caucus remains committed to reaching a bipartisan budget compromise by fiscal-year end.
