State Senator Jil Tracy has released the following statement following the passage of the 2027 State Budget:
“Folks are working hard, but it feels like their paycheck doesn’t go as far as it used to.
“That’s why it’s frustrating to see Springfield pass the largest budget in state history while families are still struggling with everyday costs.
“We have a responsibility to fund our schools and support programs that help those who can’t help themselves, including individuals with developmental disabilities and their families. Those aren’t extras, they’re some of government’s most important responsibilities.
“But when Springfield chooses to fund special interests, non-citizens, and handouts for those who don’t need them, taxpayers are left footing the bill. At a time when families are being forced to make tough choices, government should be doing the same. Instead, this budget grows government without delivering the affordability relief Illinois families need.”
