Senator Jil Tracy Launches 2026 Summer Reading Program for Students Across the 50th District

State Senator Jil Tracy is encouraging students throughout the 50th Senate District to make reading a part of their summer plans by participating in her annual Summer Reading Program. The program invites students entering 1st through 12th grades to read eight books during their summer vacation and earn recognition for their achievement.

“Reading opens doors to new ideas, experiences, and opportunities,” said Senator Tracy. “Summer is the perfect time for students to explore new books, strengthen their reading skills, and develop a lifelong love of learning. I encourage families to take advantage of the many excellent libraries and reading resources available throughout our communities.”

Students who successfully complete the challenge by reading eight books and submitting their completed reading form by July 31st will receive an official certificate from the Illinois Senate recognizing their accomplishment.

Participation is simple. Students may complete the program online or by filling out a paper form and submitting it to Senator Tracy’s district office. Information about local libraries and program registration is available through Senator Tracy’s website. (https://senatorjiltracy.com/event/summer-reading-program-2026/).
