State Sen. Jil Tracy issued the following statement in response to Gov. Bruce Rauner’s third annual Budget Address, presented to a joint session of lawmakers on February 15.
Tracy was among the committee of selected lawmakers to escort the Governor in to the chambers of the House of Representatives.
“Starting the 100th General Assembly, we knew passing a state budget would be one of our highest priorities—and greatest challenges,” said Tracy. “I appreciate the Governor’s focus on funding for our children’s education. Like my constituents, I believe every child in Illinois deserves access to a high-quality education. We should do everything we can to meet that standard. It’s time to buckle down and work together in a bipartisan manner to pass a balanced full-year budget and rebuild Illinois’ economy.”
