Senator Jil Tracy Announces Grants for Volunteer Fire Departments Across the 50th District

State Senator Jil Tracy, in partnership with the Illinois Department of Natural Resources (IDNR), is pleased to announce that several volunteer fire departments throughout the 50th Senate District have been awarded federal grants through the Volunteer Fire Capacity (VFC) Grant Program.

“Our volunteer firefighters play a critical role in protecting lives, property, and natural resources throughout our region,” said Senator Tracy. “These grants will help departments acquire needed equipment and training resources so they can continue providing the highest level of service to their communities.”

The following fire departments in the 50th District have been selected to receive grant funding:

  • Ashland Fire Protection District – $8,805.05
  • Griggsville Fire Department – $6,850.00
  • Kinderhook Fire Protection District – $7,662.50
  • Waverly Fire Protection District – $6,096.22
  • White Hall Fire Protection District – $10,000.00
  • Winchester Volunteer Fire Department – $9,899.01

The Volunteer Fire Capacity Grant Program, formerly known as the Volunteer Fire Assistance Program, reimburses up to 50 percent of approved project costs, with a maximum reimbursement of $10,000 per recipient. Participating departments must make the initial financial investment before receiving reimbursement. Funds can be used to help local fire departments purchase essential equipment and support firefighter training.

Additional information about grant requirements and opportunities can be found on the IDNR grants website here.
